Summer Happenings

Spring has sprung and that means one thing, there are GREAT times ahead in Brighton. Travel down to the south coast for your summer staycation, the best time to explore the city and experience all the incredible and colourful events on offer.

Here are a few things we are looking forward to over the next few months…

Brighton Fringe – 6th May-5th June

England’s largest arts festival, much loved by the locals. The festival supports both new and established performers and consists of over 600 events in venues throughout Brighton. This year, Brighton Fringe have taken over Jubilee Square right next door to us at My Brighton – we can’t wait for the cultural activities, installations, community events and outdoor screenings to come. Brighton Fringe also brings with it The Warren, a festival within a festival showcasing comedy, cabaret & theatre with great food and local drinks. Brighton Spiegeltent also pops up during Brighton Fringe; a circular wooden performance tent with cabaret shows, DJs and more food and drink.

The Great Escape – 11-14th May

The festival for new music returns this May! The annual event showcases hundreds of emerging global artists with new music from a variety of genres, across the city. It’s the best place to find your new favourite artist and listen to their music live in an intimate setting. There are gigs and events happening throughout the festival and so every moment is different and unique.

Brighton Festival – 7th-29th May

Brighton Festival are committed to bringing all sorts of art to all sorts of people and inspire creativity in people of all ages. It is a celebration of music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film, literature, debate, outdoor and community events. At the heart of the festival is Brighton Dome, less than a minute walk from us.

Love Supreme Jazz Festival – 1st-3rd July

A celebration of jazz, funk, soul & more. Enjoy incredible music from international legends and cutting edge artists surrounded by the stunning South Downs. Love Supreme takes place just a short journey outside of Brighton (there is a festival bus which operates from Brighton and drops you back off!). Ticket and accommodation packages are available via the Love Supreme website if you don’t fancy camping.

Brighton Comedy Garden – 6th-10th July

A hilarious series of open-air shows at Preston Park! This year, the show presents a huge line-up featuring Stewart Lee, Simon Amstell, Sara Pascoe, Adam Buxton, Dylan Moran and many more. A brilliant day of laughs, craft beer and great food.

Brighton Pride – 6th & 7th August

The UK’s most popular international Pride Festival. The Pride Community Parade starts at 11am and travels through the city bringing over 300,000 people out onto the streets with an all-singing, all-dancing carnival of colour, embodying this year’s theme which is ‘Love, Protest & Unity’. The parade works its way to Preston Park for ‘We Are Fabuloso’ which is the Brighton & Hove Pride official fundraiser for the Brighton Rainbow Fund. The sole ethos is to promote diversity, inclusion and education and eliminate all forms of discrimination against LGBT+ communities.
