Just 2 minutes’ walk from My Brighton in the heart of North Laine, you’ll find Komedia, Brighton’s premier live entertainment venue, which presents one of the largest, most diverse arts and entertainment programmes in the UK. With over 700 events every year, including comedy, music, club nights, cabaret and children’s theatre, the programme features the very best of international and national performers.
Komedia’s resident comedy shows are THE place to be. Every Friday and Saturday, head down to Komedia Comedy Club for the best in live comedy, featuring three top acts and an MC. On the first Sunday of the month Bent Double brings you a wonderfully diverse line-up of some of the best-known LGBTQ+ comedy acts on the circuit as well as “as-seen-on TV stars” and stand-up legends, MC’d by the brilliant Zoe Lyons. On the second Sunday of the month, enjoy the very best in alternative comedy and drag at Down the Hatch. On the third Sunday of the month, in association with Berk’s Nest, The Nest Comedy Club showcases the freshest, most exciting acts on the comedy circuit. Not to mention, the last Thursday of the month sees Comic Boom, at the helm, a friendly, fast-paced night featuring a top headline comic and “catch ’em while you can” rising stars of the comedy circuit. Komedia also hosts a range of other comedy shows from solo stand-up shows to improv and everything in between, see what’s coming up here.
Komedia is central to the city’s live music scene with gigs almost every day of the week as well as being a main venue as part of The Great Escape Festival every May. If you’re looking for some late-night fun, check out Komedia’s array of varied club nights. Although the regular highlights include 70’s disco Boogie Wonderland and alternative 80’s night Spellbound, the venues hosts a huge variety of events, from big name DJ’s to local acts, playing a range of genres including pop, dub, RnB, disco, nu metal, hip-hop, dance and much more.
For families, from March-October you can enjoy Sundae Club on the third Sunday of the month. A whole day of fun featuring a children’s theatre/comedy show, a craft workshop and a live band. Komedia is also the Brighton home of Bring Your Own Baby Comedy, the UK’s premier baby-friendly comedy club and Comedy Club 4 Kids, where the best stand-ups and sketch acts do their thing for an audience of children and their families… without the rude bits!
